I attended an event taught by a “new age” teacher last week. Well, I attended part of it.

Her copy was FIRE 🔥

She said exactly what I needed to hear to pay for an event and she was promoting exactly what I wanted to learn.

She said all the right things: the system is collapsing. You didn’t come here to sit behind a computer, you came here to set your mission ablaze and watch it burn around the world. SOLD!

And when I got into the event….

It was the same old thing that I try to avoid in webinars…..

Very little actually helpful information.

A constant seeded sales pitch to the program that she was going to promote.
Her support community was a little different - it was a telegram chat and she was very present.

But she wasn’t offering anything much in the way of helpful information. More just being a cheerleader and supporting people as they built the vision of what they want to accomplish in a year - clearly a set up for her program again. (“In order to reach this vision; you’ll need my support”)

And then her messaging after the event was INCREDIBLY scarcity based. “Step in or step aside” - again reinforcing that the only way they would reach their vision was with her support.

And it’s not that I BLAME her.

I think she genuinely believed she was offering something different because she was using different words. But at the end of the day, if you have a pig, it doesn’t matter if you dress it up as a pig or a duck, it’s still a pig.

I even gave her the benefit of the doubt and tried to reflect back to her that her messaging and the content she actually delivered were a mismatch, and that she may want to take a look at that. It wasn’t received. (She responded “I implicitly trust the Universal Magic that brought us together”, to which I almost said “What about if this Universal Magic is trying to teach you something you haven’t seen yet?” but decided to stay in my lane instead 😆)

Bringing us back to how unconscious programming works.

This is how this person learned to do an event based launch.

❌Invite to an event
❌Constantly sell during the event (like to the point where sales emails started arriving on Day 1 of the 3 Day event 😳🤯)
❌Hold back the most useful information behind a pay wall, and create a tension that will only be resolved by your program
❌Present yourself & your program as the only solution to the tension
❌Press on all the wounding around scarcity that came up during the event (very useful if you created a “safe” space where people shared vulnerably)
❌Remind them that you are the only one that can help them
❌Create a fake deadline to move them into action.

Boring, boring, boring. Not to mention manipulative.

It doesn’t matter that her soul called to her and implored her to do things differently. To shake up the system. To usher in a new untested model.

That was evident in her message.

Her unconscious mind didn’t even pause to question “the behavior” around it. And when reflected back, her mind instantly dismissed it as unimportant.

This is how we are wired to operate.

We will do the old behavior until we change the root of it.

Our body is set to autopilot.

THIS is a primary example of how you can have an idea and even execute it, but if you don’t address the unconscious programming, it just won’t work.

Because what you learned in childhood will persist until you dissolve the neural networks supporting it, and usually it is survival tactics.

Let’s get out of survival, shall we?
